The Wave

One game that we played a lot, especially me and my brother and two other friends - but also with other people - is a quite classic game, that is called “Vinken” in Swedish. That would be “the wave” in English, I think. Or “the waving with your hand”. Or maybe rather “the waving of your hand”. It was a version of hide and seek, where everyone would hide, and one would search for the others. If a person was found, she or he would have to stand still in a certain place. But if - while standing in this place - this person saw another person waving, she or he would be free to run away, and to hide again. So the trick was to find all the people, without them being able to escape, being freed by this waving of the hand.
It was also of course possible for the person to be a coward and just wait around for the others to come out of their hiding places to wave, and then spot them. So the game could take a really long time if the person was very patient.
